Dasavatharam Box Office Report First Week

While our SuperShowBiz Dasavatharam polling is still on going, there are some good news for the readers who voted for 'All Time Blockbuster'. The much awaited first week box office report for Dasavatharam has finally arrived.

Kamal Hassan’s Dasavataram raked in Rs 3 crore in Chennai, and Rs 21 crore for the whole of Tamil Nadu. In the non-Southern markets, which got about 80% occupancy, the film grossed about Rs 60 lakh in the first three days of its running. The film is anticipated to rake in close to Rs 100 crore as its theatrical revenue at the end of this week, as Chennai theatre owners state that the bookings for the next 10 days are house-full. If compared to Rajnikant’s Sivaji the film grossed over 25 crore in its first one week. Given the current figures, Kamal Hassan is currently one up. (Source: Economic Times)

The movie is not only ruling the in India, but is also doing an impressive job in UK, Malaysia, US, and other countries. In Malaysia, it has done amazing business in just three days, from June 13th to June 15th; it has collected $601,307 and is just a few hundred dollars away from the No.1 film. Dasavathaaram will sure be number one in a day or two from the way it is progressing.

In United Kingdom, Dasavathaaram has pushed behind all the Bollywood films this season (even Sarkar Raj) and has garnered $256,100 (from June 13th to June 15th) despite being released only in a handful of theatres. It is to be noted that Sarkar Raj was released in more number of theatres than Dasavathaaram.

Dasavathaaram was released in 50 major cities across USA and is doing business on par with some Hollywood films. It is number one amongst Indian releases and has left behind Sarkar Raj here too.

This is an incredible achievement by the film. The box office collections are growing unabated. After two more weeks, we will come to know about the that Dasavathaaram has created at box office. And Yes, this is the first week report only, but its to be said that, if the film manages to pull the audience for the first 25 days, then Dasavatharam is definitely re-writing the Indian Film Box Office History. SuperShowBiz will bring you more update on this. Mean time Keep visiting and Keep Polling!!
